At 18 months, Emma:
- weighs 24lbs. 5oz and is 33 3/4 inches long
- is a bundle of energy. She is always on the move and climbing on something.
- went on her first plane to California to visit grammy. She did great! The flight there she slept almost the entire time and on the way back she watched her movies on the portable DVD player.
- is constantly gnawing on her fingers. the last two molars are cutting through and then she will have all of her baby teeth.
- sleeps from 7:30pm to about 7 am. still takes a morning nap around 10am and sometimes an afternoon nap. those are a little harder to come by, as they fall right around the time big brother gets out of school.
- can run and loves to be chased around the kitchen island.
- has magical blankies that induce sleepiness.
- only wants to go on the big kid swings at the park.
- learned to climb up onto the couch with no assistance.
- will carry her babies around the house and pretend to feed them and brush their hair.
- becomes entranced when kids shows are on the television.
- tries to put on her shoes and will say, "shoo, shoo"
- can identify her nose, ears, eyes, belly, foot, hand, head and mouth.
- plays really well independently. she can usually be found reading her books, stacking blocks or playing with her babies.
- loves to empty out things and put them back in. will do this constantly for a good 15-20 minutes.
- enjoys our morning walks. the weather is so nice this time of year.
- gets a kick out of brushing her teeth, especially when you let her hold the tooth brush.
- can walk up two steps holding onto the railing. she can climb down the step using her belly and pushing backward.
- likes to take cuddle breaks during play time and give hugs and kisses.
- follows instructions very well. you can give her 3 step commands and she will do it. "Emma go get your shoes and put them on." the actual putting on the shoes is still challenging.
- loves the outdoors. does not like to come inside. she will run around, climb, swing and slide. she will look for birdies, planes, touch the grass, pick up sand, but she will NOT sit still.
- tries so hard to mimic your words. she even has the same inflection when trying to mimic a word you just said. her vocabulary continues to grow. here are some words she says constantly:
- uh-oh
- no
- shoe
- momma
- dada
- Cayden
- brother
- up
- step
- sit
- baby
- puppy
- yeah
- why
- what
- bye-bye
- night, night
- please
- nose
- ok
- papa
- bath
- hi
- go

- started gymnastic class on 4/3/13
