Eight Months

Sunday, May 6, 2012

At eight months, Emma:
  • weighs 17 lbs. 8 oz.
  • is 28 1/4 inches long
  • sleeps 12 hours a night - goes to bed at 7pm
  • loves puffs and mum-mums
  • still drinks 3 - 6 oz bottles of formula a day and one 8 oz bottle at night before bed.
  • gets up on her hands and knees, rocks back and forth. **has "crawled" twice only to flop on her belly.
  • sits up in grocery carts and restaurant high chairs. she can finally enjoy time with the grown-ups.
  • still loves baby food. I have been making homemade food for her. she loves spring green risotto, creamy pumping risotto, sweet potatoes, squash, potatoes, oatmeal, avocados, turkey, fresh strawberry popsicles, frozen yogurt and pretty much any type of fruit. so far, does not like peas. I can definitely say she is a "foodista" like her momma.
  • has four teeth! two on bottom and two of the top. I love her little smile :) you can see her adorable baby teeth.
  • learned to pull herself up to the sitting position from her tummy by doing the splits. how she does it is a little crazy, but works nonetheless.
  • babbles the word "da, da, da" the hubby loves it! I say it doesn't count, because she hasn't associated "da, da, da," with him. she just constantly says it.
  • does not like to lay on her back. she will pull herself up to the sitting position. especially if she is in her crib or high chair.
  • is still a short napper. she takes a morning nap at around 8am for an hour then is up until about 10am and naps for another hour. she might nap in the afternoon, but is not guaranteed.
  • makes raspberries with her mouth.
  • claps her hands at everything and everyone.
  • can pull her self up in her crib, on mommy and her toy bin.
  • loves to pull all the books off her bookshelf!
  • is old enough to go for rides in things - the swing, stroller, and the sit-n-ride toy train at the doctor's office.
  • holds her own bottle with one hand at the bottom like a pro. this girl does not dribble any milk. she gets it all in her little mouth.
  • loves her nighttime routine - bath, bottle, music, book and snuggles. then she is off to sleep. I cherish that time every night with her.
  • can easily be distracted from crying, by singing, toy rattles or giving her puffs.
  • really enjoys watching Nick Jr. with brother in the morning. she sits on her mat with her toys and plays contently for about an hour.
  • plays with all things non-toy - cell phones, remotes, watches, necklaces and of course my glasses.
  • wears size 3 diapers, 6-9 months, 6-12 months and 12 months clothes.
  • got her band off on 5-15-12 :)
  • is so sweet and I don't want her to grow!
