Packing to head up north

The view from the top of Lowell Observatory

Two of my favorite people

Me and my boyfriend
This past weekend we loaded up the car and the kiddos to head up north to Flagstaff. It's something we have been talking about doing forever. The weekend was packed with things to do. Our first day there we ate lunch at a local brewery called Beaver Street Brewery in downtown. The food did not disappoint. Afterwards we toured Riordan mansion. It is over 100 years old! The history is unbelievable. Sometimes I wonder what it would have been like to live during the 1900's. Later that afternoon while it was raining we took the kids to Lowell Observatory. That's where they discovered the planet Pluto. Although, scientist say it is no longer considered a planet. The kids had so much fun learning about the solar system, coloring and playing interactive games. We were probably there for a total of three hours. That night we had pizza at Fratelli. It was delicious! The kids were pretty tired so we headed back to the hotel for the night.

The next morning we ate breakfast at the hotel, packed up our things and headed to Arboretum. It was the perfect morning spent playing in the leaves. The whole reason we came up to Flagstaff was to see fall. They had a butterfly house, botanical gardens and an exhibit to learn about climate change.  We all enjoyed being outside in the 60 degree weather walking around the grounds. Before we went home our last stop was to Montezuma's Castle. It was so cool to see what people built with not tools or supplies over 800 years ago. The history was so rich and deeply beaded into American history. Something I really enjoyed as well as the kids. After our visit it was time to head home. It was a short trip, but we sure did a lot of sight seeing in just two days. I can't wait to go back next year.
